Alper Yurdemi

Alper Yurdemi was born in Ankara, in 1967. Graduated from Tevfik Fikret College where the education language was French and English was tought as a secondary foreign language.

He completed his bachelor degree at Ankara University, Faculty of History of Art and Archeology and made his MA at Hacettepe University, Ankara.

“Çeşni Türk El Sanatları (Çeşni Turkish Handicrafts)” was founded by himself in 1993, and it has been a registered Limited Company since 2013. He has been making the trade of the special products of the classical Turkish handicrafts. It has a very wide range of the classical Turkish handicrafts, such as the tiles, marbling, illumination, framed Ottoman embroideries etc.

He has been a collector since 8 years old and now, he has 17 different collections with almost 9000 art products. His Ottoman Embroidery collection is the most significant one among them and it is also one of the most well-known and rich collection in Ankara, with its more than 1400 pieces.

He has been planning to publish a book on Ottoman embroideries and the meanings of the motives on them. His academic researches and studies have been still continuing. He is also preparing a virtual museum of his Ottoman Embroidery collection.

He has been giving conferences in English and French on the same subjects. His aim is to inform people about these amazing art works and inform the people, who are interested, about the history, techniques and meanings of these textile products. He already gave 10 conferences to diplomatic people in foreign embassies and embassy residences in Ankara and the last one was performed at the Residence of Denmark on 12 May 2015. 

He was invited by the Embassy of Turkey to Islamabad and Consulate to Karachi in Pakistan, in November 2014. He gave 3 conferences in these cities. He also invited from Chester Beatty Library in Dublin and gave another conference there in May 2016.

He is still doing expertise of Ottoman Embroideries for official or private museums and private collections in Turkey.
