The Turks saw the sea for the first time on their arrival to Anatolia.
The color of deep blue evoked them the feeling of infinity and the ship symbolized the freedom in it.
During the 16th century, Ottoman empire was on its peak period in terms of their sovereignyt over the seas.
Therefore, the ship design was widely used on Iznik tiles and embroideries.
